Aaron Robinson runs out of time with the New York Giants

Cornerback Aaron Robinson’s time to get healthy ran out with the New York Giants on Tuesday.

Robinson hasn’t played in an NFL game since Oct. 2, 2022, and the Giants released him with a failed-physical designation, ending his injury-filled three-plus years with New York.

New York added Robinson from UCF in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He had started his college career with 13 games for Alabama in 2016 before transferring to the Golden Knights.

After missing the first seven games of his rookie season because of a core-muscle injury, Robinson played in nine games, with a pair of starts, in 2021.

Robinson started the Giants’ 2022 season-opener, but he missed the next two games after he had an appendectomy. Robinson returned to start the fourth game of the season, but in that contest – a 20-12 victory over the Chicago Bears on Oct. 2, 2022 – Robinson tore two knee ligaments, and he hasn’t played since.

When New York reported for training camp last week, the Giants placed Robinson on the physically-unable-to-report list. That designation kept him from practicing until he received medical clearance. Instead, Robinson got the opposite news from his examination.
