Brodeur said firefighters tore out baseboards and extinguished fires in the interior and exterior walls near the smoker in the back of the restaurant.

Moe’s employees said they wouldn’t know the cause of the fire until at least Monday. At about 4 p.m. June 15, the workers said the restaurant was closed until further notice.

Moe’s Original BBQ opened in Lakeview in 2009. There are locations in 13 states and 21 throughout Alabama.
