DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) says two people, including a 17-year-old, were taken to the hospital Saturday after two separate shootings.
A department spokesperson said at around 2:50 p.m. Saturday Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call from the Parkway Medical Center saying that a male was brought in with a gunshot wound. DPD said the man’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
According to authorities, officers met with the victim and were told the shooting took place in the 1000 block of Hoover Avenue SW.
DPD said later at 7:05 p.m. dispatch received a separate call saying a 17-year-old boy had been brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The department said the teen also received non-life-threatening injuries.
The spokesperson said officers were told the shooting happened during a robbery in an alley in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue SE.
DPD said it is believed the two shootings were both isolated incidents.
