Man arrested after breaking into home in Limestone County

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was arrested after deputies say he broke into a home in Limestone County on Sunday.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies responded to the 1900 block of East Limestone Road for a report of a burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies saw forced entry to the home and learned that the victim was home at the time of the incident. LCSO says that the suspect left the area on foot before authorities arrived on the scene and left his vehicle behind.

LCSO identified the suspect as 52-year-old Robert Carlton Holland, of Athens. After searching the area for Holland, deputies eventually saw Holland trying to leave the area in his vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office tells News 19 that when Holland saw deputies he got out of his vehicle and ran away. Holland was arrested after being found hiding behind a tree.

Holland was charged with second-degree burglary and attempting to elude law enforcement. He is being held at the Limestone County Jail on a $600 bond.
