UPDATE: (WHNT) — The man who authorities were searching for in Morgan County has been found. Rescuers are currently working their way to him.
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Authorities are searching for a missing 76-year-old man who was last seen in a wooded area in Somerville on Tuesday.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), deputies along with the Brindlee Mountain Volunteer Fire Department responded to a missing person call on Adams Street in unincorporated Somerville.
MCSO tells News 19 that an adult male, 76, was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt with blue jeans and black shoes.
Upon arrival on the scene, deputies deployed multiple drones to assist in the search. An Alabama Law Enforcement Agency helicopter is currently circling and scanning the area in search of the man.
MCSO said that the bluff is densely wooded with a large drop-off. According to deputies, the man went to check on his dog but did not return.
Brindlee Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan County Rescue Squad, and Huntsville Cave Rescue teams are actively performing a ground search.
Authorities are asking the public to use caution in the area.
