This 1,700-acre Alabama ’sporting plantation’ is going for $10.5 million

For just a bit under $10.5 million, a 1,700-acre property described as “one of the Top Three Sporting Plantations in the state of Alabama” could be yours.

The recently listed Bishop Hill Plantation is a 1,726-acre property in Barbour County, near the Comer community. That puts it about 50 miles south of Auburn. According to an online listing at Jon Kohler & Associates, it’s 40 miles from Columbus, Ga., and 140 miles from Atlanta’s airport.

The listing describes Bishop Hill as a turn-key operation with a landscape characterized by “dramatic rolling topography and every habitat type the south has to offer from the majestic old growth quail woods, old growth bottomland hardwoods, merchantable & pre-merch plantation pine, open fields, beautiful lakes and creeks, and more.”

Extensive improvements include “an extensive and well-maintained road network” providing access to custom elevated shooting houses. A three-bedroom lakefront lodge and additional three-bedroom lakefront guest lodge; a lakefront pavilion and sporting clays deck; a covered boat dock with lift; fenced pastures with a horse barn; tractors, horses, and ATVs; and 32 established wildlife food plots.

Bishop Hill is advertised as offering quail, deer and turkey hunting. Full details and many photos can be found at jonkohler.com. The site also provides contact information for agent Tim James Jr.
