The United States women’s beach volleyball roster features one of the best teams in the world, as Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth are currently second place in the world rankings. The duo has played in three tournaments this year, obtaining a first place finish in two of the events. Their recent dominance almost earned them a first place spot in the rankings, but they are slightly behind a Brazilian team.
Nuss and Kloth will try to secure America’s sixth straight medal at the Olympic event, as the country has placed top three in the competition since 2004. This incredible stretch includes four gold medals, which is three more than any other country.
The American team has competed together since 2021, so they will be bringing three years of experience into the competition. Although, it will be their first time participating in the Olympic Games.
The United States duo will face off against Canada’s Heather Bansley and Sophie Bukovec, who are ranked 22nd in the world. The Canadian squad enters this matchup with some Olympic experience, as Bansley finished in fifth place at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Notably, this year will be Bukovec’s Olympic debut.
Bansley teamed up with Bukovec last year, and they have earned some great results. The team qualified for the Olympics recently, as they won the qualification tournament. Due to their recent form, today’s match should be exciting to watch.
