Many talented American swimmers are ready to compete in today’s events, including Lilly King. She will be participating in the women’s 100 meter breaststroke this morning, as she tries to add another gold medal to her collection. King was dominant at the 2016 Olympic Games, winning two gold medals in breaststroke events, including the 100 meter race. She will try to replicate that success today, but she will be facing some tough competition from across the globe.
Emma Weber will also represent the United States in the women’s 100 meter breaststroke, as she finished in second place at the Olympic Trials last month. Weber is only 20 years old heading into this competition, but she is ready to win her first Olympic medal.
The American team will also have great male competitors racing today, including Ryan Murphy. He will participate in the men’s 100 meter backstroke, and he holds the Olympic Record for the event. Murphy finished the race in under 52 seconds at the 2016 Olympic Games, as he will try to perform similarly this morning. Although, it has been nearly a decade since Murphy accomplished that feat.
