It’s almost time for what may be college football’s best tradition, one that doesn’t involve a majestic pregame animal act or a spirited fan singalong between the third and fourth quarters. Sometime in August, at program after program across the country, coaches will update the tradition in creative ways, and video teams will be on hand to capture and share these honest moments of pure joy.
Walk-ons getting scholarships. There’s nothing quite like it in college football. There’s nothing like it at all in the NFL because even undrafted free agents get paid.
