HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — It was a hot and humid weekend across the Tennessee Valley, with highs Sunday nearing 100 degrees.
As we head into the new workweek, temperatures will quickly rebound into the mid to upper 90s by the weekend.

Above the surface, an upper-level ridge will expand across the Continental United States.
This will keep a hot and humid air mass stationary over the Southeast. Winds out of the south-southeast will continue to filter deep tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.

Highs are forecast to warm to just above average for this time of year. The normal high for Huntsville is 89 degrees. Highs through the week will range from the low to mid-90s.
Make sure you are staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Limit the amount of strenuous activity outdoors and seek shade when needed. Never leave your kids or pets in the car. With plenty of sun in the forecast, you will also need to apply multiple layers of sunscreen.

With the extreme heat forecast to continue, many across the area will try to find any way to keep cool. It’s important to conserve energy while also finding ways to stay cool.
When you are indoors, keep doors and windows firmly closed. Close your blinds or shades on the windows facing the sun, especially during the peak daytime heating hours. Keep fans running and if you have the AC on set the temperature a little warmer than you normally would.
