Hot for Father’s Day – More 90s to come

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Ready or not, here comes the summer heat just in time for Father’s Day.

Father’s Day will be hot, with temperatures soaring into the upper 90s this afternoon. It will feel more like 104 at times thanks to the humidity in place across our region.

Be safe this afternoon with temperatures feeling like 100-104, it will be very easy to get overheated. Watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The heat continues with more 90s into the week ahead. Daytime highs will be in the low to middle 90s through the week ahead, and our only hope for some relief will come in the form of a few isolated showers or storms.

Make sure you are staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Limit the amount of strenuous activity outdoors and seek shade when needed. Never leave your kids or pets in the car. With temperatures nearing 100 degrees Saturday and Sunday, the temperatures inside a car will reach nearly 120 degrees in 10 minutes. Also, if you need to be outside, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing

It’s also important to take care of your pets during extreme heat. Take your furry friend for a walk in the early morning or late evening hours. On the walks avoid the pavement as best you can, as the temperature of the pavement could be well over 100 degrees.

Stay with the Weather Authority for the latest updates on this upcoming heat.
