Madison City Schools provide update on injured crossing guard

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — Madison City Schools has given an update on the condition of a crossing guard injured after being hit by a vehicle earlier this month.

Madison Police told News 19 earlier this month that Terri Perdue was hit by a vehicle while she worked as a crossing guard at West Madison Pre-K on Oct. 18. Perdue was originally taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition.

Now, school system leaders are saying Perdue is doing much better. Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols announced at the school board’s regular meeting on Monday that Perdue had improved and had gotten out of the hospital and moved into a rehabilitation facility.

Traci Reinhardt, a Transportation Specialist with Madison City Schools and a friend of Perdue’s family set up a GoFundMe to help the family with expenses last week. You can find a link to that GoFundMe here.
