LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says a woman has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Lawrence County man and kidnapping of his wife in 2023.
Chief Deputy Brian Covington said Asia Hubbard was arrested and charged with murder, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, and second-degree theft of property. She was picked up on grand jury warrants.
Covington said that Hubbard was arrested for death of Dustin Grimes during a robbery at his home on County Road 245 on Nov. 4, 2023.
Jordan Cesar Hernandez and Auburn Renee Moore were both arrested and charged in connection with that incident. Moore was arrested on Nov. 4 while Hernandez was arrested Nov. 5 after a manhunt that spanned multiple counties.
Hernandez later claimed a third person was involved in the incident during a court hearing.
Authorities said after Grimes was shot, Hernandez and Moore stole from his home and kidnapped his wife.
Police said Grimes’ wife escaped the two suspects when they attempted to force her to withdraw money from an ATM in the East Lawrence area. She ran to a nearby convenience store and called the police.
Lawrence County deputies and Moulton police officers later arrived at the home, where they discovered Dustin Grimes dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to jail records, Hubbard is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $130,000 bond.
