City of Huntsville introduces new public safety training academy for police, fire departments

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The City of Huntsville is introducing a brand new public safety training academy that will benefit the Huntsville Police Department and Huntsville Fire and Rescue.

The 58,000-square-foot facility includes classrooms, a large multiuse auditorium, training and instructional exercise rooms for the Police and Fire Department, indoor/outdoor kennels, shower, laundry, and gear storage areas.

“The men and women who serve our community take an oath of office to put their lives on the line for our safety, and it’s our responsibility to equip them with the highest quality training and resources,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “It is important we make sure they have the tools necessary to protect and serve effectively, keeping our city safe and secure.”

The public safety training academy will be located at 5365 Triana Blvd in Huntsville, Alabama.
